Shirk Center Indoor Track | Illinois Wesleyan Titans
For the first time in its history, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's track and field team has swept the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) weekly awards. Junior Evan Lowder from Bloomington, Illinois, was named Track Athlete of the Week, while sophomore Ethan Godsey from Manteno, Illinois, received recognition as the field honoree. The CCIW made these announcements on Wednesday afternoon, December 11.
Lowder secured his second CCIW weekly award by breaking his own school record in the 300-meter event with a time of 34.60 seconds at the Titan First Chance meet on Saturday, December 7. His performance ranks as the ninth-fastest in Division III history for this event.
Lowder initially set the school record at last year's Titan First Chance meet with a time of 34.99 seconds as a sophomore. He improved upon this record during his recent performance and also participated in the winning 4-by-400m relay over the weekend.
Ethan Godsey delivered an impressive performance at the Titan First Chance meet with a personal-best triple jump of 14.30 meters (46'11") on his final attempt. This jump placed him significantly ahead of his competitors and moved him from tenth to second place on Illinois Wesleyan's all-time list. Godsey's mark is currently the best in the CCIW this season and ranks third nationally for Division III.
The Illinois Wesleyan men's track and field team will compete again next year when they host the I-55 Invite on January 18.
