The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams began their participation in the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on January 31, 2025, at the Norton Healthcare Sport and Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Four athletes represented the university on the first day of competition.
In the men's open 800-meter race, senior Ernie Waterson from Bloomington, Illinois recorded a time of 1:55.32, placing him 26th out of a field of 64 competitors. His performance is noted as ranking 14th in Division III for the current season.
Freshman Alex Reinhart from Normal, Illinois achieved a personal best in the women's open 800-meter with a time of 2:19.44, also finishing in 26th place among 51 participants.
Junior CJ Ladewig from Palos Heights, Illinois competed in the men's open weight throw and was the only Division III athlete participating in this event. Ladewig finished in 12th place with his best throw measuring 16.69 meters (54'9.25").
Senior Carlyssa King from Decatur, Illinois took part in the women's open weight throw as well, being another sole representative from Division III. She secured the 19th position with a throw of 15.92 meters (52'2.75").
Sophomore Reece Dusek from Peoria, Illinois ran his first open 400-meter race on Friday night and completed it with a time of 50.81 seconds, earning him the 26th spot out of a total of 47 runners.
Illinois Wesleyan University is set to continue its participation with seven more events scheduled for February 1st during day two of the invitational.
