Illinois Wesleyan University's men's volleyball team is set to face No. 19 Dominican University on Thursday, February 6th, at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The Titans are coming off a loss against Trine University on February 1st, where they were defeated in straight sets. Bryce Williams led Illinois Wesleyan with 12 kills, and Brenden Reutter provided a team-high of 21 assists. Jace Milka contributed defensively with seven digs.
Freshman Gavin Rohlwing has made significant contributions this season, leading the team with 69 kills and maintaining an attack percentage of .395, ranking him as the 22nd-best in Division III. Williams follows closely behind with 68 kills. Trey Marek completes the top three for the Titans with his performance.
Reutter leads Illinois Wesleyan in service aces with ten, while Williams and Rohlwing have eight and six respectively. The team ranks 27th nationally in kills per set.
Reutter and senior Vince DiCosola have been pivotal in orchestrating the team's offense. Reutter averages 4.61 assists per set while DiCosola averages slightly less at 4.42.
Rohlwing also leads defensively with blocks, averaging over one block per set which places him high both within their conference and nationally. Senior Jake Kougan follows Rohlwing's lead defensively along with Reutter contributing significantly to blocking statistics.
Illinois Wesleyan will face Dominican University for the fourth time; previously, Dominican has won all encounters including a sweep last year on February 20th led by Mike Eastman who now serves as an assistant coach for IWU.
Dominican enters this match after losing a five-set contest against California Lutheran University on January 30th.
