The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams concluded their weekend competitions at the Roger Haynes Invitational hosted by Monmouth University. Several athletes achieved personal-best performances on Saturday, February 15.
Sophomore Cole Marshall from Mahomet, Illinois, recorded a new personal best in the 60m dash preliminaries with a time of 7.09 seconds, which is tied for the seventh-best in program history. Carly Edwards from Metamora, Illinois, also set a personal record in the women's 60m prelims with an 8.42-second run and improved it to 8.33 seconds in the finals to finish second.
In the men's 60m hurdles final, junior Bobby Mogged finished second with a time of 8.73 seconds, while freshmen Kamden Reynolds and Keagan Uphoff came third and fifth with times of 8.75 and 8.92 seconds respectively, both setting personal records.
Sophomore Luke Alberstett from Roscoe, Illinois, ran a personal best of 51.42 seconds in the men's 400m to finish as runner-up. Freshman Caroline Hill from Bement, Illinois, did likewise in the women's event with a time of 1:03.56.
Freshmen Kelsey Moore placed second in the women's 60m hurdles at 10.07 seconds while Nick Walker finished as runner-up in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.32 meters (20'9").
Freshman Sarah Polley secured third place in the women's triple jump at a distance of 9.52 meters (31'2.75"). The women's relay team composed of seniors Jordynn Griffin and Bella Gonzales along with sophomore Olivia Skibinski and freshman Caroline Hill finished second in their race with a time of 1:47.86.
Illinois Wesleyan will host its final home meet of the season on February 21 at the Shirk Center.
